Here are some tips to make your job go smoothly...
When prepping your files at home, make sure the files are:
- 8-bit / RGB color
- JPG format - save at high quality
- Mac users: avoid using iPhoto to burn the CD - copy your photos into a folder on the desktop and burn using the operating system instead (and please include the .jpg extension on your file names). iPhoto creates CDs full of folders: 3 main folders with thumbnails, original files, and modified files (such as rotated). Within each of these folders are several more, based on album and dates used within iPhoto. As a result, it's A LOT of folders to wade through and there can be duplicates, slowing down considerably our ability to make your prints.
- if you prefer to give us a CD (rather than use the self-serve kiosk) and will be ordering different sizes, please create folders labelled "4x6", "5x7", "8x10", etc. and place all the images in their corresponding folders rather than giving us a list. This saves us a lot of time and will save you money - there is a $5 list charge.
- use common print sizes such as 4x6, 5x7, etc. when printing on photographic paper. If a specific size is important to you, increase the canvas size to a common print size
- prints made on photographic paper use a ppi of 320
- prints made on the large format Epson use a ppi of 300
Files that are in other formats, color spaces, odd sizes, etc. require time to change them in order to print and are subject to extra charges.
We reserve the right to charge extra for jobs requiring additional time to prep.
